Today the 500,000th passenger has been registered at Gagarin international airport (part of the Airports of Regions holding). His name is Aleksey Timofeev, a passenger of the regular flight Saratov – Saint-Petersburg operated by Pobeda Airlines. He was granted a certificate of free access to the business lounge, along with memory gifts. It should be mentioned that since 20 Aug 2019 Gagarin airport has received and launched 5,032 airliners, handling 375 tonnes of freight and 2,531 tonnes of baggage.
The passenger traffic at Gagarin airport during the initial seven months of this year exceeded 249 thou people. This year five airlines – Aeroflot, Pobeda, Nordwind, S7 and UTair – perform regular flights from Gagarin airport to five destinations: Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Sochi, Simferopol and Surgut.
“This period witnessed a gradual recovery of the passenger traffic, which is caused by the opening of additional flights and an increase in the seating capacity of aircrafts on the existing routes. Half a million passengers is an important milestone for any air hub, which shows that the new airport in Saratov is in high demand,” noted Executive Director at Gagarin Airport Aleksey Zhamkin.
We should remind that Gagarin international airport built from the ground up launched its operations on 20 Aug 2019. Its infrastructure allows the servicing of most popular aircraft models in the fleets of national and overseas airlines including Boeing 737-800, Airbus A320, Embraer-170/190, and Sukhoi Superjet 100.
