Gagarin international airport (part of the Airports of Regions holding) has reviewed the performance results for 9 months of 2020. The traffic has exceeded 366,000 passengers, most of them using domestic routes. From January to September 3,335 takeoff and landing operations have been performed while the total volume of cargo and mail exceeds 528 tonnes.
In 2020 eight airlines — Aeroflot, Pobeda, Nordwind, Ikar, S7, UTair, RedWings, Azimuth and IrAero — performed flights from Gagarin airport on a regular basis. The said carriers operate 11 regular and charter flights to destinations, such as Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Sochi, Simferopol, Surgut, Novy Urengoy, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Mineralnye Vody, Nizhny Novgorod and Yekaterinburg. The infrastructure of Saratov’s airport built from the ground up allows services to be provided for modern aircraft models including Boeing 737-800, Airbus A-320, Embraer-170/190 and Sukhoi Superjet 100.
New flights have opened from Gagarin airport in 2020, despite the difficult situation for the transport industry as a whole. RedWings launched regular flights from Saratov to Yekaterinburg; Azimuth Airlines premiered three new routes to Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod and Krasnodar; IrAero has opened flights to Kaliningrad and Novy Urengoy.
