10 October 2012 - foundation stone laying on the airport construction site
5 December 2013 - an agreement on construction of a new airport was signed by among the Russian Ministry of Transport, the Russian Aviation Authority, the Government of Saratov Region and the investor
March 2015 - The Main State Expert Examination Authority (Glavgosexpertiza) of Russia issued a positive conclusion for the passenger terminal construction project
29 June 2017 - construction of the passenger terminal started
22 May 2018 - the name of Gagarin was assigned to the airport by the Decree of the Russian Government
20 August 2019 -
Gagarin International Airport started servicing flights
"Gagarin" is certified as the II category ICAO airport.
In 2021 - 992,642 passengers were served.
Gagarin Airport was awarded the challenge standard of the Governor of the Saratov Region for the achievements and high results in the field of transport, communications and road infrastructure
"The best airport with a passenger flow of up to 2 million passengers per year" and "The most comfortable airport according to the results of passenger voting." (9th national award "Air Gates of Russia" )
